About Healthway

• offer sports, arts and racing:
(i) a replacement source of funding for those activities which were sponsored by the tobacco industry; (Tobacco sponsorship and advertising in Western Australia was phased out by 1992).
(ii) sponsorship support for sport, arts and racing activities which encourage healthy lifestyles and provide opportunities to promote health.

The Act defines the role of Healthway in terms of its functions, objectives and powers.

Annual Resources
Healthway provides grants to health and research organisations as well as sponsorships to sport, arts, racing and community groups which encourage healthy lifestyles and advance health promotion programs.
Healthway distributes approximately AU$17.6 million annually in health promotion grants and sponsorships.  Of this, approximately $5.9 million is allocated to health promotion projects, health promotion research grants and program and project evaluation.  Additionally Healthway provides more than AU$9.5 million per year for sponsorship of sport, arts and racing programs and AU$1.9 million to support sponsorships.  A further $300,000 supports a range of special projects.
